YEAR 10 Languages

STAGE 1 LANGUAGES

Stage 1 Languages covers Indonesian and Japanese. Students will continue to build on their knowledge and experience of the Indonesian and Japanese languages and culture learned in semester 1. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the Indonesian and Japanese languages and cultures. This will involve speaking, listening, reading and writing about topics relevant to Indonesia/Japan and Australia. STAGE 2 LANGUAGES

Stage 2 Languages develops the skills learnt in Stage 1 in Indonesian and Japanese. Students will develop ability in conversational Indonesian to obtain and provide goods, services and public information. The Indonesian Beginners program also promotes inter-cultural understanding and sensitivity. Students interact with others to share information, ideas, opinions and experiences. They create texts in the specific language to express information, feelings, ideas and opinions. They analyse texts to interpret meaning and examine relationships between language, culture and identity, and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication. 

Japanese Continuers understanding of the Japanese language and culture which constitutes a valuable resource for Australia. This will involve speaking, listening, reading and writing in Japanese and English about topics relevant to Japan and Australia. This course develops intercultural understanding and sensitivity which is an essential component to living in 21st Century Australia.
