What is the CSC Centre for Excellence?
The Casuarina Senior College Centre for Excellence in Medicine and Health Sciences was established in 2011 and has a deserved reputation for outstanding results in NTCET. In 2016 Casuarina Senior College offered the first senior secondary Centre for Excellence Elite Sports Program in the Northern Territory, enabling student athletes to combine their sporting and academic goals. We are now proud to offer expanded opportunities for students with 2017 seeing the inclusion of two additional Centre for Excellence pathways, English, Humanities and Languages and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Each pathway contains specialised courses offering students opportunities for enrichment and acceleration. This commences with Year Ten students being offered Stage One subjects. As a part of the Personal Learning Plan students will also participate in a Work Experience program.
Acceleration of students into Stage Two courses in Year Eleven gives students flexibility in Year Twelve to complete extra subjects or reduce workload to maximise chances of success.
Each pathway provides students with highly qualified staff with specialist expertise and a commitment to success. Students have the opportunity to complete their secondary education in the company of peers with similar aspirations, motivations and interests.
All Centre for Excellence students are encouraged to participate in relevant extra-curricular activities and are given opportunities to engage with external organisations such as Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory Institute of Sport and Menzies School of Health Research.
Each pathway will also be given the opportunity to take part in an interstate trip related to their areas of study.
