Subject Description
The study of biology develops an understanding of the diversity of life as it has evolved, the structure and function of living things, and how they interact with other members of their own species, other species, and their environments.
Through their exploration of science as a human endeavour, students increase their understanding of the complex ways in which science interacts with society.
Students use their understanding of the interconnectedness of biological systems to evaluate the impact of human activity.
In Biology students develop a range of understandings and inquiry skills that encourage and inspire them in thinking scientifically and pursuing possible future pathways, including medical, veterinary, food and marine sciences, agriculture, biotechnology, environmental rehabilitation, biosecurity, quarantine, conservation and ecotourism.
