Stage 1 Psychology is suited to students wanting to explore pathways in mental health, social work, criminology, neuroscience, and other fields related to human behaviour and thought processes.
The Stage 1 course is designed to equip students with foundational skills and understanding required for success at Stage 2.
Psychology aims to describe and explain the universality of human experience. It also addresses the ways in which behaviour can be changed. It offers a means for making society more cohesive. However, every change also holds the possibility of harm. The ethics of research and intervention are therefore an integral part of psychology.
It is recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 Psychology before enrolling in Stage 2 Psychology.
