Course Overview

Activating Identities and Futures helps students become more independent and confident learners. It encourages them to take charge of their own learning by choosing a goal that matters to them personally. This course builds on what they learned in Exploring Identities and Futures and helps prepare them for life after school—whether that's further study, work, or contributing to their community.

Students learn how to plan, manage, and reflect on their own learning. They choose a personal goal and explore different ways to reach it, using strategies that work best for them. Along the way, they get feedback from teachers and classmates to help them improve. Students develop important life skills like problem-solving, self-awareness, decisionmaking, and communication. At the end, they create something meaningful—such as a project, a plan, or a presentation—that shows what they’ve learned and why it matters.

It is recommended that students complete Stage 1 Exploring Identities and Futures before they enroll in Stage 2 Activating Identities and Futures.
