Course Overview

Stage 2 Legal Studies is designed for students interested in careers such as law, medicine, journalism, or any field where a strong foundation in ethics and legal knowledge is essential. This subject will support students in developing research and academic writing skills needed for success in university studies.

Stage 2 Legal Studies places a strong emphasis on building critical thinking abilities and encourages students to analyse and evaluate complex issues. Throughout the course, students will learn how to use evidence to construct persuasive arguments and advocate for causes they are passionate about. Academic referencing is also a prominent skill taught in the course to best prepare students for the rigors of academic writing.

Students will study Constitutional law, human rights, lawmaking, criminal law, and civil law. The Inquiry allows students to research a legal area of their choice.
