Course Overview

Stage 2 Music Studies prepares students for further pathways into tertiary study and careers in music performance, composition, production, and related fields. Students deepen their understanding of industry practices and develop their identity as independent musicians and creators.

Students extend their skills through specialised study in performance and/or composition, focusing on technique, interpretation, creativity, and stylistic awareness. Areas of study include music theory, analysis, arranging, and critical reflection, with an emphasis on developing and refining original and/or interpretive work. This examinable subject.

As a Stage 2 Performing Arts subject, students are expected to take ownership of their learning and artistic outcomes. This includes participation in public performances or presentations and a strong commitment to practice, rehearsal, and preparation beyond scheduled class time to support successful pathways beyond school.
