Course Overview

Stage 1 Economics prepares students for Stage 2 Economics and pathways into business, finance, law, international relations, policy writing, research, education and entrepreneurship. Economics builds lifelong skills useful in any career requiring decisionmaking, critical thinking, and an understanding how the world works.

Economics is the study of how people make choices about using limited resources to meet unlimited needs and wants. It helps us understand how decisions made by individuals, businesses, and governments shape our society and affect things like prices, jobs, and the environment.

Students learn to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions. They explore real-world issues such as inflation, economic growth, government policy, and sustainability. They apply these concepts to real situations to understand how economies work and how decisions affect people’s lives.

It is recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 Economics if they wish to enrol in Stage 2 Economics.
