Course Overview

Stage 2 Economics prepares students for pathways into business, finance, law, international relations, policy writing, research, education and entrepreneurship. Economics builds lifelong skills useful in any career requiring decision-making, critical thinking, and an understanding how the world works.


Economics gives students a powerful way to understand the world and prepares them to contribute to a better future. Stage 2 Economics, builds on the core ideas from Stage 1 and applies them to real-world issues. As students explore how economies work, they will also learn how social and political factors influence decisions and shape society. Students use critical thinking and economic inquiry skills to ask meaningful questions, analyse problems, and explore solutions. They learn to balance different viewpoints, test assumptions, and think clearly about complex issues.


It is recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 subject name if they wish to enrol in Stage 2 Economics.
