Course Overview
Stage 1 Essential Mathematics caters for students who may wish to enrol in Stage 2 Essential Mathematics as well as those who may only wish to complete the minimum requirement for NTCET completion.
This year 11 course enables students to build a strong foundation in measurement, geometry and trigonometry, basic statistics and financial mathematics. These topics cover a range of skills and knowledge required in the trades, in everyday life, and for further study in Stage 2 Essential Mathematics. The course follows the SACE Stage 1 Essential Mathematics Subject Outline.
All year 11 students must successfully complete one semester of mathematics. Students who wish to continue to Stage 2 Essential Mathematics must successfully complete both semesters of Stage 1 Essential Mathematics.
