Course Overview
Stage 1 Fabrication is a “hands-on” subject that allows students to explore how products are designed and made and build skills that are in demand across many industries. Career pathways include cabinet making, carpentry, furniture design, building and construction.
In Stage 1 Fabrication students learn how to design, plan and build a class directed project. They will use machines and materials safely and effectively to create high quality wooden items. Additionally, this subject helps students understand how to select the most appropriate materials while learning about the design process.
It is recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 Fabrication if they wish to enroll in Stage 2 Fabrication in Year 11 or Year 12.
