Course Overview

Stage 2 Fabrication is for students who enjoy designing and building timber products and who want to develop high level practical and design skills. This course develops valuable practical and problem-solving skills that are in demand across industries. Career pathways include cabinet making, carpentry, furniture design, building and construction.


In Stage 2 Fabrication students use the design process to develop and refine their ideas. They create design briefs and safely operate machinery to complete an individual project. They learn about materials, production processes and sustainable design practices. This course encourages independence, creativity and innovation and is ideal for students with a passion for woodworking and design.


It is recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 Fabrication if they wish to enroll in Stage 2 Fabrication in Year 11 or 12.
