Course Overview
Stage 1 Music is a subject that caters to students who have an interest in performing music. It will allow them to build their skills as musicians and performers and reflect on their progress as they prepare for their assessed performances.
Students will learn how to play in an ensemble on a range of musical instruments. They will have an opportunity to perform in a variety of settings. Students will analyse the distinctive musical features of work heard or performed using appropriate musical terminology. Students will learn how to arrange or compose music and will study different forms of music notation to understand the written language of music.
It is strongly recommended that students successfully complete at least 1 semester of Stage 1 Music if they wish to enrol in Stage 2 Music subjects.
