Course Overview

Stage 1 Visual Art is a subject that caters to students who have an interest in pursuing a pathway involving the Arts - practical and theoretical. This pathway will help prepare students for careers and degrees in Visual Arts such as professional artist or curator.


In Visual Art students develop a range of practical skills in a variety medium such as painting, rendering and printmaking. Areas of focus include conceptual, practical, and contextual aspects of life. Students study a range of topics including past and present influences, local and global events, social and political values, different cultural perspectives and the styles, aesthetic and philosophies of practitioners from particular times and places.


Students develop a range of transferable skills in the arts such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
