Course Overview
Specialist Mathematics caters to students who show strong aptitude or interest in Mathematics. Specialist Mathematics is a prerequisite or highly recommended for a range of tertiary studies including engineering, some sciences, and mathematics.
Specialist Mathematics has a strong emphasis on the more abstract fields of mathematics including proof by induction, complex numbers, vectors in three dimensions, differential equations and integration, and vector calculus. Students develop strong independent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and use of sophisticated digital tools.
It is expected that students have passed both Semesters of Stage 1 Mathematics (Methods) or equivalent before enrolling in this course. Students must be enrolled in or previously completed Stage 2 Mathematical Methods.
